Beijing's First Aesop Store Opens in a Stately Courtyard Santuary

Aēsop has officially opened its doors to its Beijing retail location, its first foray into China’s capital.

Aēsop WF CENTRAL House 19 — a nod to the historical House 19 that was previously owned by the last emperor’s cousin — is designed by Beijing-based architectural firm, atelier suasua.

Located in the city’s Wangfujing shopping district, the new store features an exterior that’s reminiscent of siheyuan — a type of courtyard housing that was commonly found in the city throughout history. The store is fitted with pergolas providing shoppers with serene shade.

In the main house outfitted with wooden rafters and high ceilings, Aēsop’s full offerings are on display.

In the next building through the alcoves, visitors are invited to sample Aēsop’s fragrances.
